Another Weekend Around Town
Due to my car needing regularly scheduled maintenance and it being the end of school term this upcoming week, I’m just hanging out around town. Just because I’m not going anywhere doesn’t mean that I’m stuck in my apartment all weekend.
Last night, I saw The Nightmare Before Christmas at the State Theater. It’s always fun seeing the movie on the big screen. For me, it’s one that I prefer seeing on the big screen when I can. (It also helped that I was supporting a local theater.)
Today was car maintenance day. Fortunately, the only thing “wrong” was that the motherboard on my key fob decided to kick the bucket. (The key was acting weird this past week). The dealership took the battery out so it’d stop unlocking my car and rolling down my windows when I simply pick up the key. It’s still usable for manually locking and unlocking the car and for driving, which is helpful in case something happens to the key I am currently using. Side note, I did not expect the dealership be decorated for Halloween, but they were. They definitely had fun with it took.
After escaping from the shop with the car, I did some homework at the local library and at home when the library closed. The rest of the weekend will be mirroring this since my final project is due this upcoming week. I do hope to escape briefly, though, to take out some recycling and donate some stuff that I don’t need anymore.
For anyone curious on what I am reading, I am still slowly working through This Much I Know is True. It’s a long book and not exactly an easy, quick read. I hope to have it finished by the end of the month. I was planning on starting a T.J. Klune book this past week as well, but I realized that it was Banned Book Week. So, I felt obligated to read a banned book. This year, I chose Their Eyes Were Watching God, which has been on my bookshelf for a while. I am also listening to it on Libby while I read a physical copy of the book. I sometimes find it easier to listen to a story versus just reading it. (I did the same thing for a collection of Edgar Allan Poe stories.)
For those out there who have StoryGraph, my user name is @klmitchells42. That will help you keep track of what I’m reading in case I don’t include it in a blog post.
So, that’s it for this week. I have some day trips coming up and will be posting about those. I will see everyone then.
